Notes
I really need to stop making white fingering weight baby clothes. But I still have a couple skeins of this yarn left so... I probably won't. These cute Smarty Pants from PurlSoho might work.

I bought a few extra skeins of this when I made the Christening Gown, and I still have some left.

(3 days!)

Buttons
Stopped by The Yarnery and they had these cute buttons that were perfect! Apparently they're carved from some kind of nut and stained?

Notes
This was so fun, quick, and easy to knit after working with so much fingering weight yarn on 3mm needles! I would definitely make this again. This is the type of thing that I *think* makes sense to knit for a baby (never having had a baby before). It's quick, so I'm not spending more time making it than the amount of time they'll be the right size to wear it, it layers easily over other clothing for temperature control, is easy to remove in case of diaper emergency, and adds just a touch of cute handmade knitwear to an outfit — fancy, but not too fancy! I got kindof over-confident since this is such a straightforward pattern so I made some mistakes and had to rip back some sections. I could finish it even faster next time!

Rigmor's Bonnet

Pattern
PetiteKnit, Rigmor's Bonnet

Yarn
DK weight yarn recommenced.
Verb for Keeping Warm, Range
Originally used for these mittens

Size
0-3M

Gauge
Used recommended needle size: 3mm

Cast On/Cast Off
Cast On: Sept 24
Cast Off: Sept 26
(2 days! It would be even quicker next time, the pattern gave me a few head scratching moments I had to work through but now I get it)

Notes
This pattern is the most sparse instruction-wise of all PetiteKnit patterns I've made. I was able to muddle through with some mistakes and oh-well-I'll-do-better-next-times but when my goal was just to use up a small bit of yarn I wasn't too worried about being super meticulous. It uses a chart for the eyelet pattern that took me a couple tries to figure out (start at the bottom right, read right to left, and move up the chart as you go.) I wouldn't recommended this pattern for beginners — it wasn't all that hard to figure out but there are a ton of easier bonnet patterns to make.

Teddy Bear Sweater

Pattern
PetiteKnit, Teddy Bear Sweater

Yarn
Cascade 220, from the Yarnery a while back.
Originally used for this Novice Sweater.

Size
9-12m

Gauge
Somewhat off and I think this is a little short and wide. Ah well.

Notes
I don't super love black clothing for small people, it's a bit depressing, so I made this sweater in a somewhat larger size — 9-12M. This is such a great basic sweater pattern that would be fun to make a bunch of striped versions and such of so I'm glad to have it in the pattern stash now.

Really had to squeak this one out. Doing all the cuffs in a contrasting color helped stretch the yarn, but I did have to rip back a few rows of my Novice Sweater to have enough of the black yarn! Thankfully I had made it a tad too long to start anyway, so it still fits well and maybe even slightly better than it did before. At least I hope, hard to tell with my 38 week belly.

My brothers' hockey team colors are black and gold, so I opted for the gold contrast and added the "W" (town/mascot initial) for fun. Will be ready to cheer on uncles at the rink next year!

I used this guide to duplicate stitch by PurlSoho for adding the letter. Couldn't find a good template for a "W" I liked, so just winged the letter design and am pretty happy with how it turned out!

Ellen's Playset Sweater

Pattern
PetiteKnit, Ellen's Playset

Yarn
Held Together:
Holst Garn, Titicaca, Lotus
Holst Garn, Noble, Camisole

Size
2-4m

Gauge
Holst Garn was talked up to me because it's affordable, is high yardage/skein, and is easy to pair with other yarns. The issue is it's very thin and I have had a hard time getting any combination of the yarns to gauge successfully.

Notes
Still have about 2 skeins left of the Titicaca and am not sure what I'm going to do with it.

Both PetiteKnit patterns I've made with an eyelet pattern (just this and Rigmor's bonnet) are somewhat more difficult than other patterns as the instructions for counting stitches between eyelets is somewhat difficult to understand. It works better for me to just make note of the proper spacing and ignore the instructions after learning the repeat. I'd not recommend a pattern with an eyelet design to a beginner.

Because I eyeballed/winged the eyelet repeat there are a few mistakes, but I just kept going knowing that the overall busyness would hide issues, as would the somewhat loose/marbled fabric these yarns created.
