TAL Kaftan, Nursing Friendly

Tried making the Assembly Line Kaftan nursing friendly! Instead of sewing the overlapped neckline down, it's held in place with snaps. This does provide quick and adequate access, but I'm not sure the snaps will be able to withstand a flailing grabbing baby.

Used sew on snaps because they are less conspicuous, but they also aren't as strong as hammered in snaps. Using hammered in/prong snaps would requiring thinking through installation at an earlier stage and maybe attaching to facings only in some areas so there aren't snap rings all over the front of the garment.
Do love this pattern but keep making it in nightgowny fabrics... This fabric is from the Textile Garage Sale so it was low stakes if things didn't work out. Couldn't pattern match because the plaid is irregular.
Did some sleeve adjustments this time — slashed and spread up the center of the sleeve and across the bicep line to help the sleeve relax over my shoulder a bit more. The last version of this pattern I made had some pulling over the shoulder and the plaid made the pulling more noticeable (to me at least). I also wanted the hem of the sleeve to hang more evenly than it does in the as-drafted pattern.
Vents/slits are some of my least favorite things to finish, so I usually end up handstitching the vents/slits and hems down. It takes longer but the finish is SO much nicer and any irregularities in hem depth is easier to hide.
