Caramel Sweater

This Caramel Sweater (Petite Knit) was started as we prepared to move and had a couple road trips on the schedule. I needed a knitting project so I could still make progress on something while taking some time off from the sewing machine.
We had some overlap in old and new places, so decided to make some more sizable messes at the new place before having to live there — removing wallpaper, refinishing hardwood floors, stripping paint off pretty old woodwork, painting, etc. A lot of progress was made on this sweater on the daily drive over after work.

We planned a camping excursion as a short reprieve from house projects in the nice fall weather. Our trip to Voyageur National Park didn't quite go as planned (leaky canoe, wind, motorboat traffic, skunk visits, etc.), but we still enjoyed the time outside and I got to knit in the woods while Josh was kind enough to be a real-life audiobook!

Anyway — this sweater is another instant classic from Petite Knit. Usually I don't like to wear gray, but I do allow particular types of light gray and had been thinking about a light gray sweater for a while. Luckily The Yarnery had an option in the "correct" light gray when I stopped in.

In previous projects I'd been sort of working in the Norwegian knitting style (unknowingly and mostly by accident). Just for fun, I looked up the "right" way to do it, and the only thing I wasn't already doing was the purl technique. Once I got the hang of it, the 2x2 rib sections were much easier! I'd recommend giving Norwegian style a try. Lots of YouTube Vids out there.
Cast On
The first day of the 2020 Tour de France, which was postponed to August 29th. We got together with Erin and Anthony to watch, which means Josh and Anthony watched cycling while and Erin and I knit.

The J.C. Rennie is called "supersoft" and it is certainly isn't scratchy and is soft for a wool, but isn't the softest. The mohair definitely helped create a softer texture. If The Yarnery had enough of Rowan Alpaca Classic in Feather Gray Melange when I stopped in, I would have picked it for sure (and skipped the second mohair strand). It looks like they've since restocked it though — curses! Guess I have to make another one.
Gauge
Gauge with this yarn combo was spot on with the recommended needle size. Yay!
Size
Made size S
My bust measurement is 34" which actually corresponds to an XS in the size chart. I've found "sizing up" works well for me with PetiteKnit as I'd prefer to wear a sweater that leans roomy rather than tight, especially across the shoulders/chest. I do usually shorten the sleeve and body to my preference which I determine by trying on. It maybe ended up a little short through the torso, but I tried to get a little extra length out of the blocking.
