Balloon Cardigan

This Hot Pink Cardigan is my attempt to be Fun! When the other 4 sweaters I made this year were all white, gray, or black. My husband said it is cooler than Taylor Swift's cardigan which is also important.
Funny thing though, I don't really like or wear cardigans. I prefer a pullover sweater for warmth and the no-fuss of not having to pick something out to wear underneath. I truly do like this sweater pattern and getting to make it my own will likely make it something I actually wear!
Even though I'm happy with the finished product... I didn't like the process of knitting a cardigan. I like going around and around in circles very quickly and only working knit stitches 🙂 But hey it was a fun new challenge and we'll see how quickly, if ever, I forget that annoying reality of cardigans.
My tension was the worst it has ever been (blame it on all that purling!) Somewhat blocked out a little more nicely but isn't perfect and I'm not going to dwell on it.
Pattern
Size
My bust is 34" and I made a Small.
Yarn
Held together 3 strands
Titicaca by Holst Garn in Lotus (100% Alpaca)
From The Yarnery
Originally was going to hold one strand of Titicaca together with another lighter pink Holst Garn Noble but didn't like the swatch — too loose and the lighter pink with the hot pink wasn't working for me. Holding together 3 of the same might be weird? But it was the cheapest and easiest thing I could figure at that point.
The three strands together met gauge on recommended needle size and didn't look too loose.
I bought 9 skeins and had one full skein leftover. Could maybe have squeaked by with only using 7 if I had pulled two strands from each ball to start.
Buttons
(This doesn't look exactly the same though — mine have little teeth on the backside of the button instead of the smooth edge. I liked the teeth, they helped grip the knit better!)
Knit little circles/hexagon/octagon things on size 1 needles with 3 strands of yarn.
Painted the metal buttons with a coordinating nail polish cover to blend better as the knit stretches over the button.
Couldn't fit the covered button back on over all the yarn, so I loosely sewed the yarn tail from my knitting through the edges and pulled tight over the back.
