I'm Abby, a sewist and knitter living in St. Paul, MN. Journaling here about things I make, petite fitting, and sewing pattern alterations for style and fit.

Minnesota has been home my whole life and I love it here. My internet name – Toile du Nord – is a play on our French state motto "L'etoile du Nord." In English that's "The Star of the North" but if you know nothing about the actual French language (me), removing the "L'e" leaves just "Toile du Nord" and in Sewing language that could roughly mean "Cloth of the North."

Not just a reference to fabric, toileing/muslining is also important to me as a practice. Fit and quality are my focus as I work to make clothing to fit my 5' 1" self better than anything I could buy!
